Catching up

So now that I surprised Nicole for her birthday and all that I can fill you in on whats going on. The FBI didnt like my fingerprints so they have to go through my past to prove I am who I say I am.  It sucks that I didnt get to start flying, but I got to come home and spend time with Jere.

I started a season job at Fotofly, helping show parents their pictures of their kids with Santa. This job is so much fun full time so Im getting extra money which is nice.

I also have the chance to interview with United Airlines on December 18th. Mainline! holy crap! I really hope I get it. So perfect. The cities are better and international is that much closer. I am learning French, which is more likely to help me get a line in the future.

So thats whats going on with me being in the sky. Hopefully very soon Ill get out there ASAP

Last Week of Training..

Already?! holy crap! My final is tomorrow. Insane.

This has been an interesting experience to say the least! Lots of drama, like 3 or 4 every day, luckily I was only in one and it only affected me. It was still bullshit, but thankfully I wasn't in anything else. One person got sent home for cheating, and I think a couple more are getting sent home because of grades. You have to maintain an 85% to stay and graduate and get out there. Mine is 98% so even if i totally fuck up tomorrow on the final I ca still graduate.

Going to class 12-14 hours a day is so crazy. I will have to work around those same hours a day but I think actually working and not sitting on my ass in a class I'll have so much more fun.

I am going to try and get to Chicago with Joann and move out of Charlotte in December. I think Ill fall in love with Charlotte, but its so much easier to get back to SLC from Chicago, and it will be easier to get a line, and once I get a line, it will be so easy to come home. Only 3 months or less on reserve?! that would be nice, Charlotte would be like a year or more on reserve.

We got to go out and actually play on my plane! The CRJ-900 so very cool.

Me and my Arizona roommate, Nelson. She is from Chicago so hopefully Ill see her on the line!

A montage! Me on the steps, my company, Me and Joann (my Charlotte roommate) and one with Asasi.

I cant believe Im done tomorrow! Cant wait! Im so excited. One step closer to coming back to SLC

And My Base Is....

See if you can guess from the pictures..

Pretty. Love the lake and the skyline

 FOOTBALL?! What!!?! Awesome

 Oh hey my work..

Figured it out yet?

Thats right, I got Charlotte NC! My second o last choice, but hopefully ill be able to move asap to Chicago so I am close to home and will get a hard line easier. Which means I would be able to set my own schedule meaning I could be home for a week or more at a time.

It wasnt my first but this will be amazing no matter what. And now all you lovely people can come to the south to see me!

Day of Rest and I'd Rather Be..

In class! I want to get through this training and up in to the air! Also I want to get home to Jere and the monsters. ( Side note: Happy birthday to Jeremy! I love you). The girls in my class are great, all a little high strung with being tested so much. But I understand.

I really hate people who keep telling me to calm down and relax. I am the most relaxed in the whole class, its just other people are so stressed they hear things in a bad way and attack me. For example, a lady n my class had a paper everyone needed to sign and she had it for like 5 minutes and i just looked over and asked "are you done so I can pass it?" and she like flipped the fuck out. Telling me to calm down it will all be taken care of and we would all get the chance to sign it. Everyday some one is yelling at someone to calm down when the person (who is being told to be calm) is so calm and the other people are the ones stressed and overreacting to everything.

At this point of where I could be sent is so up in the air. But from the sounds of it, Hawaii is out. Which is amazing news! Right now in the running is (Ill put these in the order of most likely but this has probably changed since I heard it) CLT (Charlotte NC) IAD (Washington DC) ORD (Chicago). I am still hoping for Chicago, because it is the closest to home.

We get a bunch of homework but I really dont mind it. Its pretty easy, the FAM is a little hard to navigate but I'm sure I'll catch on. Most is common sense and practicability. I have 5 tests in 3 days. Im a little nervous but I know I can rock it. Not being cocky but I know I can do this. First time I have felt like I can do something, and do it really well!

Good news I passed my drug test. I was worried my loratabs might show up and then have to get the Mesa doctor my doctors number and the pharmacy to prove that I do have a prescription. But I dont have to now, now just have to wait for my FBI check.

Hopefully "Frankenstorm" doesn't hit CT to bad or at all. I know lower Manhattan has been shut down to prepare. But I think my mom is far enough in-land that her house wont be to affected.

Well back to studying! Oh and I get my stitches out on Tuesday  So excited for that. They have become a very big pain in my neck (hehe get it)ok that was bad, but whatever, ya'll still love me!

Blues and Whites

Everyday we have to wear our "Blue and Whites" Navy blue pants and a plain white button down. Its pretty much the ugliest combo ever, but the actual uniforms are good. I cant wait to get mine and wear it, when I tried it on it somehow looks better then what I bought.

We got our employee numbers today and found out the seniority list. Im 12 of 15... Lower then I thought but whatever. a new class is coming in December and ill be senior to them. We got told again that we will probably get our assignment base's next week. I just want that to come out!

I had to get re fingerprinted today because apparently the FBI didnt like the copies we gave them electronically. So i had the pleasure of doing the ink ones. If they kick these ones back, I have to come home, until a physical check by the FBI is made which could take months. So PRAY that doesn't happen!I want to finish my time here so I can get out and start on getting my own line.

Thats all the news to report. Not to much going on because Im in class all day every day. But Ill try!

Training Begins

Today I started training!  FINALLY! I got down to AZ early Monday morning and just started today. So a lot of sitting around studying for the test I had this morning. I got  roommate which is weird because I have never lived with another girl ever. But she is really nice and I enjoy hanging out with her.

Today I had to get up at 4AM to get to class. First thing we do is take a test. I missed one (out of 122) because it wasn't in my packet that I had to study from. So no biggie, I need to keep an 85% and I have a 99%. After that I went and got fitted for my official uniform. Then we spent the rest of the morning doing all sorts of dumb paper work.

After sitting from 6am-5pm I get home with a ton of homework. So this is short and sweet.

For those wondering where I will end up, Bids end at midniht tomorrow, so hopefully I find out early next week!

Change!

Because of operational needs, my class date has been moved! All the way to January 23rd. I cant believe it. I was so so ready to go and get this started! But it does have so positives.
1. I can wait the 3 months between my tattoo sessions. The doctor said 3 months minimum but I was going to do it in 2.
2. If my interview goes well with American Eagle (the express for American Airlines) and they do offer me a job, it will be so much easier to say yes to them if I am not in training for Mesa.
3. I get to be here for Jeremy's birthday, Halloween, Nicole's birthday and Christmas.

Im just so so so anxious to get this started!

Interview

Today randomly I got an email inviting me to interview with American Eagle Airlines. For shits and giggles I am going to go. The are paying for my flight so why not?! Ill be going September 24th and coming home the 25th. Short but sweet. I will be in Dallas Texas. I like the hubs they have better then what Mesa offers, but if I do by some miracle get the AE job, I probably wont find out until after I have entered training for Mesa. But I think its a good experience to have!

Beginning of my new life

This new blog will chronicle my life as a flight attendant for Mesa Air Group. So many new thing are going to start happening and I am excited and scared! Well I think Ill start this blog at the very beginning showing how I got started ect.

Jeremy and I were flying back from Chicago after watching my best friend Ally graduate from college, and he asked me what I really wanted to do with my life, and I looked at him and said I want to fly. I want to be in the sky, I want to be a flight attendant. He told me that it is a perfect fit and I would be amazing at it.

So after about a week or so of finally figuring out what I wanted to do, I had a house party and my bestie Nicole brought a guy to the party and I was talking to him and he told me that Skywest was hiring. I went online and applied, a week or so later I got an email invinting me to an open interview session in Fresno CA. I was so excited! My mom took me out to get a new suit and look professional. I love my new suit! (new suit jump). I went to Fresno and on the flight I talked to the flight attendant on my flight the whole way. She was amazing to talk to, gave me great advise to get through the interview process.

The day after the flight was the interview. I woke up super early to get ready. I got in and then it began. I was in a room of about 110 people. (they had about 3 rooms that size) and the first part we had to listen to the job description blah blah blah. Then the 2nd part was the "interview" I use the term interview lightly because what it was it that we got up in front of everyone and sell ourselves for 30 seconds. So after sitting in that room listening to everyone (about 2 hours) we got a break while the HR people decided on people they wanted to bring back for a one on one interview. Well I was not chosen, which bummed me out way bad. But only 75 of the 300+ people got chosen.

When I got back to my room I saw that I had an email from Frontier Airlines asking me to also come out for an interview in Denver CO. So I booked a flight for that next week. Also a couple days later Mesa Air Group also sent me an email to join them in Arizona that next week. So i had 2 interviews in one week in 2 different cities! I was ecstatic!

On monday June 23rd 2012 I flew in to Denver for my interview with Frontier. I went to the Frontier interview and when I checked in they said it wasn't for flight attending but for basically a cleaning crew. Somehow in the application process things got mixed up, I showed them my email from them that said it was for flight attending. All they did was say that they were sorry. So i had to spend the day in Denver.

After that crazy-ness I headed to Arizona for Mesa interview. Oh my it was so different then the Skywest interview. There were a total of 14 people not 300. We sat through the job description again, and then got a break until they called us in one by one. I was one of the last ones. During the first presentation they kept talking about what a big deal it was to have all your important documents. They required us to bring our Drivers Licence. And my luck I got in there and couldn't find it for the life of me! I had used it to get on the plane that morning, and to rent the car. My credit card was in my purse, but not my ID I was freaking. She let it go and we continued my interview.

After I was so so so upset. I knew I had blew it. So I got home and just kept looking online for FA jobs. Not easy!

My birthday came and went and on August 10th I got an email from Mesa informing me that I had been selected for the final interview! I was so excited!

The final interview was done over the internet on a site called oovoo. Like skype but I like it more! I felt it went ok, not great but not horrible. Pearl (the HR director) said they would get back to me within 2-3 weeks. Well a week and a half later I got the email saying I had been hired! I cried! I was so excited! I couldnt believe they had chosen me!

I got my packet and start date, things started kicking in. The fact that I am moving, and will be gone a lot these first couple years. I leave for training on October 22nd and start classes October 24th. I will be in training for 3-6 weeks. 3-6 Because the in class training is 3 weeks but then I have to go to IOE (initial operating experience) but that is dependant on if there is a teacher free. Right after IOE I will go to my assigned base. I will not find out my assigned base until the first week of training. After I graduate and get sent to my base I have to wait 15 days before my benefits kick in and I can fly home.

I will let you all know where I get sent on this blog! Where i could be sent is, Chicago, Washington DC, Hawaii, Charlotte, or Phoenix.

I will not receive my uniform until I reach my home base so I had to buy a whole bunch of new things.  I had to get a new black tote bag, black suitcase and a black purse. I also had to buy black leather shoes, navy blue pants and white button down shirts.

So thats the beginning of my life high in the sky! I cant wait to get this new chapter and adventure started.
